EDUCATION FOR ALL

Leading Change Uganda has partnered with Hope Nursery and Primary School to provide free education to under-privileged children.

Hope Nursery and Primary school is a community school located in Buwaali village, Namulonge Wakiso district, and is managed by village Pastor Lubega George William.  It has a total of about 200 pupils with a nursery and primary section. In 2016, 11 pupils sat for Uganda Primary Leaving Examinations and they passed in grades one and two.  The children are supported with school materials such as pens, uniforms, books and stationary.

A lack of good quality, free education and basic needs for the children of Buwaali village prompted LCU to join hands with friends and partners to support the pupils of this community with better education.  In 2016, as part of our Education for All campaign, LCU provided dozens of books to a number of children as they began First Term.  It was one of the ways we could create excitement about school with these children, as they embarked on a journey that we hope will change their lives. Knowledge is power!  And self-empowerment is key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
